Counselling

What is counselling?

Counselling is a two way process. Your counsellor has the time and space to explore your thoughts and emotions with you. You will be listened to and heard and what you say will be kept confidential. This process will allow you to look at your feelings and emotions. Your counsellor will not expect you to deal with anything you don't feel ready to look at.

Counselling can be a challenging process, sometimes looking at what has brought you to a particular stage in your life, can make you feel drained and exhausted. This is all part of the healing process, getting to know you on a deeper level. Only by doing this can you begin to make positive changes in your life.

The counselling process will feed into your attitude towards yourself. You are in charge of your own healing and only you can make the decision to actively heal. This is not a quick process, sometimes a deep trauma will heal on various levels at different times in your life.

Throughout this process you are in charge of how much you say and how much you explore with the counsellor. Your counsellor may push you on certain points you raise. This will help you move through or look at certain issues more closely.
